India Wildlife Tour

13 Day / 12 Night

Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Arrive tonight in Indias bustling capital city of Delhi, where you are greeted with a traditional Indian welcome and escorted to the hotel. TAJ PALACE.

Day 2: Delhi Sightseeing
After a morning at leisure, drive along the Rajpath, the capitalâ??s broadest avenue for views of the Parliament, the Presidentâ??s House, the India Gate. Visit the Humayunâ??s Tomb, Qutab Minar and Birla Mandir. Red Fort, a spectacular fortified palace built by Shah Jahanâ??with its Pearl Mosque and exquisite audience halls; Raj Ghatâ??the Mahatma Gandhi memorial; Ashoka Pillar and the mile-long Chandni Chowk bazaar where craftsmen sell their wares. Day 3: Delhi / Jabalpur / Kanha National Park
Fly to Jabalpur this morning. Drive to Kanha, the original country Rudyard Kipling so vividly described in his Jungle Books. Kanha has some 22 species of mammals: most commonly spotted are langur, jackal, wild pig, spotted deer, swamp deer, sambar and black buck. You may also see tiger, Indian hare, wild dog, barking deer, Indian fox, sloth bear, striped hyena, panther, mouse deer, Indian bison, jungle cat, four horned antelope, blue bull, ratel and Indian porcupine. Kanha also has some 200 species of birds. Spend two days game viewing and bird watching in Kanha, a true haven for the animal and avian population. TAJ BANJAAR TOLA. (BD)

Day 4: Kanha National Park
Enjoy morning & afternoon game viewing. (BLD)

Day 5: Kanha / Bandhavgarh
After morning game drive in Kanha, travel to Bandhavgarh. Arrive in Bandhavgarh, home of the white tiger and other species including Indian bison, sambar deer, barking deer and the blue bull. TAJ MAHUA KOTHI. (BLD)

Day 6: Bandhavgarh Game Viewing
Enjoy morning & afternoon game viewing. If a tiger is spotted in an accessible area you maybe be able to get a closer view on elephant back. (BLD)

Day 7: Bandhavgarh / Khajuraho
Morning take your last game drive and leave for Khajuraho, capital of the 9th to 13th century Chandela Dynasty. Upon arrival check in at your hotel. TAJ CHANDELA.

Day 8: Khajuraho /Agra?
This morning visit the Western group of temples containing the largest and loveliest temples, including Kandariya Mahadev (representing Chandela art at its best). Also visit the principal Eastern group of temples, modest and less ornate than the Western Group. These temples reflect the simplicity inherent in Jainism. Later, drive to Jhansi to board the train to Agra, en route visiting Orcha, a medieval city frozen in time and space, existing to this day as it must have in the 17th century. Day 9: Agra / Fatehpur Sikri / Ranthambhore
Early morning visit the magnificent Taj Mahal for a sunrise view. After breakfast visit the Agra Fort. Later, depart by surface for Ranthambhore, en route visiting Emperor Akbarâ??s 16th century abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri. This ghost town is remarkably well preserved and presents a perfect synthesis of Muslim, Hindu and Jain architecture. The sculptured columns bear mute testimony to this gallant experiment to unite Hindus and Muslims. Continue on to Ranthambhore, the remains of a thousand year old fortress, today a wildlife sanctuary, where leopards and tigers prowl. VIVANTA BY TAJ SAWAI MADHOPUR LODGE. (BLD)

Day 10: Ranthambhore Game Reserve?
Ranthambhore is one of the few preserves, where the nocturnal camera-shy tigers may be seen in daylight. Almost hunted to extinction by the local royalty and their British overlords, the population of the Bengal tiger is slowly increasing, thanks to the efforts of â??Project Tigerâ? and the World Wildlife Fund. Youâ??ll take thrilling game drives in the morning and evening to scour the jungle for wildlife. (BLD)

Day 11: Ranthambhore / Jaipur?
After a morning game drive, leave for Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, also known as the "Pink City." Check in at your hotel. JAI MAHAL PALACE. (B)

Day 12 - Amber Fort Excursion / Jaipur Sightseeing
Today, you are transported back in time. Experience riding royally atop elegantly draped and painted elephants to the mountain fortress of Amber. Later, enjoy a tour of Jaipur City, visiting Hawa Mahal or "Palace of Winds," City Palace and the ancient observatory. (B)

Day 13: Jaipur / Delhi
Morning is at leisure. In the afternoon leave for Delhi where a day room will be provided for wash and change at your hotel. This evening transfer to the international airport for flight back home. (B)
